Welcome to Uruguay

Uruguay is a small country increasingly visited, with history, unmatched in nature, magic shores, friendly people and a capital with many attractions! The country is situated in a prime location in South America, surrounded by the enormous territories of Argentina and Brazil, large rivers and the Atlantic Ocean.

Half of the 3 million people in Uruguay live in Montevideo, the capital. It has a very pretty white sand coastline, with dunes, surfing big waves, small fishing villages and very friendly places where whales can be seen in the ocean. Uruguay offers a large quantity of hot springs in the interior, lots of rivers and lakes, beautiful countryside and mountains, and so on.allowing sports of all kinds. Finally, Uruguay has the largest casino in Latin America in Punta del Este resort town where you areevery year in January and February, the jet-set world.

Relief  linked, in the south to the pampas land, consisting of mostly rolling plains and low hills. The most important watershed of the Uruguay river used as a means of communication. The Rio de la Plata, is formed by rivers of short course.The climate is temperate, with variations in temperature, caused by wind patterns. The rains are abundant and evenly distributedthroughout the year. 75% of the land is pasture land. Forests are scarce (25% of territory). Agriculture (wheat, corn, sunflower, flax, cotton, sugar beet) and livestock (cattle, sheep) are the main economic resources. The main industries are paper and cardboard, chemical fertilizers, alcohol, cement and oil refining. Mineral and energy resources are scarce.
